This week has been crazy with all the snow! Last Thursday we had our first major snowstorm in years and got more than a foot of snow! John stayed home that day, and we had a lazy day together. I made snowcream for us to enjoy. Mikey had a blast playing in the snow with daddy! Daddy even built him a fort, that he wouldn't go in!
Last night we had a second snow storm in a week! Everyone was saying that this storm was going to be even worse than the last one and resulting 12-16 inches, calling it "The Blizzard of Oz 2.0", "Toto's Revenge", and "Snowmageden" are just a few of the names I heard. It turned out to be not as bad. We probably would of ended up with more snow if it was just a bit colder outside because it actually took it a while to stick. But, John had off again today and he and Mikey had fun playing in the snow again! They built a snowman (it was mostly John doing the building). and John pushed him on a trash can lit (a makeshift sled) down the small incline in front of our house.
Anyways we were able to make it to MOPS on Monday before the storm started. Last night I had to volunteer at the Just Between Friends consignment sale. I got home before the roads got bad, they were just wet and slushy. Today I had to volunteer again, I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to make it today, but since the storm wasn't as bad as they predicted the roads were pretty clear. John ended up driving me and dropping me off because at first we weren't sure how the road were. Tomorrow I have the pre-sale to go to, and I am excited to shop! Then I volunteer again on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and next Monday! I have a busy week as you can see!
Last week I had a doctors appointment just a normal prenatal check-up. My doctor said that I she's not going to schedule my gender scan until my next appointment! I am so anxious to find out, but its going to be another 5-6 weeks! We are planning on having a gender reveal party after we find out, so when we have the ultrasound we are going to have the tech write the sex down and we are going to take it to the bakery and have a cake made with the inside either pink or blue. So then when the cake is cut open at the party it will be a surprise to everyone!
Well, I think its about dinner time, we are having meatloaf and mashed potatoes, and the meatloaf smells amazing! So I better go eat! I hope everyone has a great rest of the week!
I can't believe I am 14 weeks, only 6 weeks until the halfway point! The baby is as big as a lemon this week! I am so anxious to be able to find out the sex of the baby! I just want to know right now! I am getting tired of just calling the baby "the baby" instead of being able to call it "she" or "he". Even though I call the baby she sometimes! LOL!
John and I really haven't discussed names yet for either a girl or boy. With Mikey his name was already decided on before we found out he was a boy. If he would have been a girl we didn't have a name picked out yet. Mikey was named after my grandpa, and that's where the spelling came from too. And his middle name John, is obviously his daddy's name. The name John has been passed down for generations, and has alternated from first to middle name each time. So Mikey pretty much had a built in name!
I am so glad I am not sick anymore! It seems like I have been sick the whole month of February, and the second half of January. I first had a cough for a couple of weeks, then I felt better for a few days before I got sick with the stomach bug, and then when I felt better from it I started having a runny nose and sneezing! Now its time for the sickness to go away and not come back!
John has been pretty busy around the house the last couple of weekends. He has put new can lights in our kitchen and living room! It is so much brighter in our house, its awesome! He is planning on putting a few in our hallway to, so our house is going to look much different with all the lights.
We got some sad news this week. My great-grandma found out that she has ovarian cancer. We are still waiting to find out how bad it is, but the preliminary results were not good and they think it may be stage 4, but there may be only one tumor and the cancer hasn't spread yet. There are many people praying for her! We are praying that they are able to remove the tumor and get rid of the cancer!
I have a doctors appointment on Wednesday and hopefully we will get to schedule my 20 weeks ultrasound so I can start planning our gender reveal party! Mikey took pictures again with me this week and he tried to eat my lemon! I thought it was cute that he tried to stand exactly like his mommy, and then Beau decided to photo bomb us!
The baby is as big as a peach this week! Well, last week, I am actually 14 weeks today, but I have been so sick that I haven't been able to update my blog! We took the picture last night, so I was still in the last day of my 13th week...lol!
So on Saturday night I thought my morning sickness was returning because I got sick, but then I felt better. Well it ended up continuing over to Sunday so I knew I had some sort of icky stomach bug. On Monday it got really bad! I couldn't keep anything down (or in for that mater), even water. So needless to say, I got dehydrated.
Tuesday morning I woke up and I was so weak that I could hardly move. So John stayed home from work and took me to the ER on Tuesday morning. They pumped me full of fluids and gave me anti-nausea meds. I was there for a couple of hours and then was able to go home. I felt so much better after that! They gave me a prescription for anti-nausea meds for me to take at home if I needed them, so I could keep stuff down so I didn't end up in the same situation again.
Yesterday I felt well enough to go to Bible study at church, and today I am back to eating a fairly regular diet. I'm just praying now that Mikey doesn't get it, I really don't want to have to clean up vomit!
Since I couldn't eat anything for a few days, I have lost 4lbs and now have only gained 1lb this pregnancy. Which is considered pretty low, but I'm sure it won't take long to catch back up!
I had a busy week that I missed out on. I was supposed to go to MOPS on Monday, a Valentines party Monday night, and I was supposed to start a new Women's Discipleship group on Tuesday. I missed out on all the fun! :-(
Tomorrow John and I are going on a date night for Valentines Day while Mikey has a sleepover with Grandma and Grandpa. We were going to try out The Capitol Grille since we have a giftcard there, but since John forgot to make reservations until we looked last night, they were booked until 10pm tomorrow night, and I'm not waiting that long to eat! LOL! So we are going to try out the M&S Grille which is part of McCormick & Schmicks (they have my favorite dessert...The Chocolate Bag...yummy!). I thought it was kind of weird that the M&S Grille had reservation openings and McCormick & Schmicks doesn't, but we are going to try it out!
I really don't have much more to update. Since I've been sick most of the week, I haven't really done much! Hope everyone has a great rest of the week and weekend! I'll hopefully be back to update in a few days!
I can't believe I am 12 weeks, and the first trimester is coming to a close! Whoohoo! 2 more days and I will be in my second trimester! Well, the baby is as big as a plum this week! I was actually worried that I wouldn't be able to find a plum for my picture, because I hadn't seen them in the grocery store, but lo and behold when I went the other day, there they were!
I was so glad to get back to the gym this week for my water aerobics class! Having a cough all week last week was horrible! I couldn't do much of anything without coughing. I finally had to call my doctor because it was hard for me to sleep I was coughing so much, and I was afraid to take anything.
As far as symptoms this week, I am happy to say (knock-on-wood) they have eased up! I am still a bit tired, but I haven't had any nausea or vomiting for a while!
I have almost outgrown my regular jeans. They have started to get very uncomfortable especially when I sit down. I pretty much spend my time at home in sweat pants or pajama pants! LOL! I haven't started wearing my maternity jeans yet, but I'm sure it will be just around the corner!
I'm getting pretty good at finding the baby's heartbeat now, I can normally find it within a minute or two. Hearing it never gets old, its still such a wonderful sound to hear! I let Mikey listen to it yesterday, and he was so cute! He kept saying "baby heartbeat"! I'm sure he still doesn't quite understand, but it was still very cute!
A couple of times this week when I have been laying on the couch or in bed I swear I have felt the little one move. Just the "bubbles" feeling. It seems early, but I know moms can normally feel movement earlier the second time around since they have already felt it before. A few times when I have been listening to the heartbeat, the baby kicks at the Doppler. I don't normally feel it then, but I can hear it with the Doppler.
I hope everyone has a wonderful day and rest of the week! When I post again I will be in the second trimester!!!
